On April 22, the leader of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Home Affairs informed that Krong Na commune, Buon Don district is the commune with the largest area in Vietnam. This is also a border commune, so it will not be merged.
According to Ms. Bun Lao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Na Commune (Buon Don District) has completed the collection of people about the arrangement of administrative units at the commune level. Most people agree with the plan to keep the population and area of the commune. At the same time, people also agreed to change the name of Krong Na commune to Buon Don commune.
Previously, Dak Lak province had a plan to keep the area and population of Krong Na commune the same and change its name to Buon Don commune.
Krong Na commune has an area of 11,113km2 and a population of 6,582 people. The commune has a large area because it includes the area of Yong Don National Park.
According to the plan of Dak Lak province, renaming Krong Na commune to Buon Don commune because the place name Buon Don has been associated with the history, tradition, culture, and tourism brand of the locality.
After changing the name, the working headquarters of Buon Don commune was located at the headquarters of the People's Committee of the old Krong Na commune.
Dak Lak province currently has 180 commune-level administrative units (including 18 wards, 13 towns and 149 communes). It is expected that after the arrangement, Dak Lak will have 67 commune-level administrative units (including 7 wards, 60 communes), reducing 113 commune-level administrative units.
