On the afternoon of September 20, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee to hold a press conference to provide information on the forced land acquisition in Song Doc commune.
Mr. Do Van Su - Chairman of Song Doc Commune People's Committee - reported on the incident that led to the social network spreading information about the forced residence of 39 houses in Song Doc, Ca Mau province.
In April 2012, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province (old) leased more than 7,580m2 of land in Hamlet 7 to Mr. Le Thanh Tien (born in 1975, permanent resident of Hamlet 7, the old Song Doc town) for use as a production and business premises, with a lease term of 4 years.
During the land lease process, Mr. Tien used the land for the wrong purpose, arbitrarily subleased it, and transferred labor results to households that were not in accordance with regulations. After the inspection, in May 2016, the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district issued a decision to reclaim the land area of 7,580m2 leased to Mr. Tien.
After that, Chairman of the District People's Committee Tran Van Thoi issued 30 decisions to apply remedial measures for 30 individuals using land (there were 7/39 plots of land that households voluntarily returned). From 2017 to 2024, Song Doc Town People's Committee has managed 10/39 plots of land.
During the implementation process, many individuals did not agree with the decisions of the competent authority, so they filed a lawsuit in court. However, when the trial court did not accept the lawsuit request.
On September 10, 2025, the People's Committee of Song Doc commune organized the enforcement. Through propaganda and mobilization for the last time before organizing the enforcement, 8/10 households voluntarily committed to dismantling. The remaining 2 households did not voluntarily participate completely, and have organized the implementation of the enforcement decision according to regulations.
By September 13, 2025, 10 households (11 plots of land) had been completed. Currently, the People's Committee of Song Doc commune has erected fences around the entire land to manage and for households in need to request transportation of concrete parts and scattered walls to other places for gathering.

Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan thanked the journalists for their interest in the incident. The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province stated that the cause of the incident was due to lax management by local authorities, failure to prevent and promptly handle violations from the beginning.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that the violations have been handled very specifically, most people are very aware that transferring labor results on state land is not in accordance with regulations. The province has handled it, and will soon review the handling of officials, so people should not use social networks to disseminate unverified content that is not true to reality about this incident.
Previously, many people used social networks to inform and caused a stir in public opinion regarding the forced demolition of 39 houses in Song Doc commune. The People's Committee of Ca Mau province has stepped in and held a press conference to provide official information related to the incident.
