In recent days, people and tourists in Hon Kho sea area (Quy Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province) have been excited to continuously witness whales floating to the surface and foraging near the shore.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Van Hai (34 years old, residing in Quy Nhon Dong ward) - a photography enthusiast - said that in the afternoon of June 12, he recorded images of a whale hunting near Hon Kho beach, with an estimated length of more than 10m.
According to Mr. Hai, in the clear blue sea water, whales repeatedly surfaced, opened their mouths to catch prey and sprayed white water columns into the air, creating an impressive natural scene.

Not only Mr. Hai, many people and tourists also caught moments of whales hunting prey, appearing near tourist boats.
Previously, on May 17th, a large whale suddenly surfaced to catch prey among a flock of seabirds flying over the sea area of Quy Nhon Dong ward, creating a spectacular image.
Recently, on June 7, a group of fishermen in Hoai Nhon Dong ward also caught a mother and baby whale swimming and foraging in the local sea area.
From 2022 up to now, whales have regularly appeared in many coastal waters of Gia Lai province such as Xuan Thanh (Phu My Dong commune), Vung Boi (An Luong commune), De Gi, Hon Seo, Hon Co, Nhon Hai, Hon Kho (Quy Nhon Dong ward) and Mui Ganh (Hoai Nhon Dong ward)...
The continuous appearance of whales shows that Gia Lai sea area has a rich natural food source, creating favorable conditions for this species to come foraging.
The frequent appearance of whales in recent years has also opened up a new attraction for Gia Lai beach tourism. Besides swimming or coral diving activities, tourists also have the opportunity to observe wild whales in the natural environment.
However, local authorities recommend that people and tourists need to comply with regulations when detecting whales. Boats and ships must maintain a minimum distance of 100m, do not approach too close to avoid scaring whales or colliding causing injury to them. When whales are detected nearby, vehicles should slow down, drift or turn off engines to limit noise.
