Renovating Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square
Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square area has about 1.2 hectares; the North borders Hang Gai and Cau Go streets; the South borders Hoan Kiem Lake and Thuy Ta House; the East borders Hoan Kiem Lake and the West borders Hong Van - Long Van Building.
The current status includes the square as a traffic land area; the Shark Dock building managed and operated by Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) (land area is about 390m2, usable floor area is about 1,600m2).
The authorities will demolish the Shark Dock building, move underground works (if any), and restore appropriate infrastructure in sync with the landscape of the area.
It is expected that after demolishing the Shark Dock building, the land will still use public functions. It is expected to arrange an entrance to the basement and the square stage.
Hanoi will also study plans to add more landscapes to surrounding areas, including lighting plans, and light towers arranged right in the center of the square.
The light tower is expected to be located at the current fountain location, contributing to creating a modern landscape and lighting capability for the square area and Hoan Kiem Lake.
How is the light tower plan calculated to meet the technical and aesthetic needs to best promote the heritage values of Hoan Kiem Lake?
For the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square renovation project, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh directed the completion of site clearance on April 30, and completed the investment and construction of the outper part on September 2.
