On March 21, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District announced that the district has completed investment preparation for the Ly Thai To flower garden renovation project. The district plans to place the Km0 milestone right in front of the King Ly Thai To monument.
It is expected that the renovation of the flower garden and the Km0 milestone will be carried out from April 2025 and completed in October 2025.
Regarding the Km0 milestone, Hoan Kiem district and the consulting unit, the group of authors who won first prize in the Km0 milestone design contest, will install the project in the center of the hydrangea yard in Ly Thai To flower garden.

Previously in 2020, Hanoi held a ceremony to announce the results of the Km0 Landmark Construction Design Contest (under the Hoan Kiem Lake renovation and embellishment Investment Project). The winning design is the product of young lecturers at Hanoi University of Architecture.
According to the first prize winning design, the marker is a square bronze plate cast in a single piece 6 cm thick, measuring 4 m2. The center is the main square in the middle with the symbol of the capital Hanoi. The Km0 milestone will be placed in front of the monument to King Ly Thai To (Hoan Kiem district).
According to the design unit, the bronze plate is cast in whole blocks of pure gold. After completing the pattern, the bronze panel will be painted with 3 layers of antioxidant protection paint, the paint surface will be shiny.
The decorative patterns are stylized from a treasure trove of highly general traditional patterns, representing the image of nature and people of Vietnam spanning 4,000 years of history such as mountains, clouds, water, villages, urban areas, temples, and people.

Notably, the lighting part of the project will be a highlight when a 3D hologram projector is installed that can light up many scripts on the original image to suit the corresponding events.
In the evening, the projector will project 3D hologram images to the space above the bronze relief. The image is a stylized zero number, showing geographical signs. The image is stylized like a square door, with a direct view of the monument of King Ly Thai To.
During the day, the 3D hologram projector will project the image of the Hanoi City logo at the bottom of the glass panel. In some cases where there are events of the city or country, this image will be changed accordingly, for example, the map of Vietnam with full territorial territory.
According to the author of this design, Holographic technology creates a 3-way view floating in the air without a display, allowing viewers to observe a 360-degree view without using any specialized glasses.
