On August 4, the People's Committee of Ia Grai commune, Gia Lai province requested the Economic Department to fully prepare materials, chemicals, human resources... to coordinate with the Veterinary Station of Region 8 to deploy measures to surround, control, and thoroughly handle African swine fever.
Previously, an outbreak of African swine fever occurred in the home of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chung (Pang Gol village) with 10 sick pigs.
The People's Committee of the commune sent officers to take samples for testing and gave positive results for African swine fever. The local government has organized the destruction of all of the above pigs and destroyed them for poisoning and environmental sanitation.
After the incident, the People's Committee of Ia Grai commune requested the authorities to strengthen inspections, promptly detect and handle outbreaks; strictly handle cases of hiding epidemics, selling, slaughtering, dumping sick or suspectedly sick pigs into the environment.
In the border commune of Ia Pon, officials went to each house to mobilize and propagate people to hand over pigs suspected of being infected with African swine fever to destroy them, avoiding the risk of the epidemic spreading strongly.
Ia Pon commune is mainly a member of ethnic minorities, so awareness, information and understanding about the epidemic are still limited.
Therefore, in the coming time, commune officials will increase propaganda about safe production and farming in the community; do not use, buy, sell or consume dead pigs or infected pigs.
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment) continues to monitor the situation of African swine fever in the province. The relevant agencies have distributed 2,340 liters of disinfectants to 18 communes and wards and established 4 inter-sectoral animal disease control posts, contributing to strengthening epidemic prevention and control in key areas.
