Renovation, increasing car lanes on the main road leading to Vung Tau

Ho Chi Minh City - The main road leading to Vung Tau, about 10.2km long, will be renovated to add more car lanes and items, with a total investment of more than 141 billion VND.

On March 30, many workers and vehicles were constructing along 3/2 road - the main road leading to the center of Vung Tau area (HCMC). Construction forces are moving a series of firewood trees, recovering decorative lighting systems on 2 medians between car lanes and motorbike lanes.

Construction units said that this is an activity to prepare the ground for the project to renovate and expand 3/2 road, invested by the Phuoc Thang Ward Construction Investment Project Management Board (formerly the Vung Tau area construction investment project management board, Ho Chi Minh City).

The Phuoc Thang Ward Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project to renovate 3/2 road passing through Tam Thang, Rach Dua, Phuoc Thang wards is being implemented. After clearing green trees and decorative lighting systems, the unit will mobilize vehicles and forces to deploy road surface renovation.

The rebuilt section is about 10.2km long with one end connecting to Cua Lap roundabout (intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap, 2/9, 3/2 streets and the existing Vung Tau - Binh Chau coastal road); one end connecting to the Vung Tau Martyrs' Monument roundabout.

On this route, there are a total of 4 car lanes and 2 motorbike lanes. In which, each direction includes 1 standard car lane, 1 car lane nearly double the normal width, a hard median strip separating the car and motorbike lanes nearly 1m wide. In the past time, the traffic volume of vehicles circulating on this route has been increasing, leading to the need to increase the number of lanes for convenience, ensuring safe and regulated traffic.

The construction unit is pruning and relocating about 4,650 sulfur trees for reuse in other areas, expected to be completed in April 2026. At the same time, recovering about 600 decorative lighting poles and accompanying systems, expected to be completed in June 2026.

When deployed, the existing hard concrete median strip will be removed, replaced by a hard steel median strip; adding more car lanes so that each direction has up to 3 lanes for cars to circulate. After completion and commissioning, the route will have a total of 6 car lanes and 2 motorbike lanes, meeting traffic needs in the near future and increasing connectivity with the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.

In addition, the recovered decorative lighting system will also be replaced by a new lighting system that is more suitable for the road after renovation.

The total investment of the 3/2 road renovation project is more than 141 billion VND, of which the estimated construction value is more than 94 billion VND. The renovation project will be implemented and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
