On December 6, information from the Quang Binh Department of Transport said that there had just been an announcement about restricting traffic through Song Thai bridge on provincial road 558B, Quang Trach district.
The unit prohibits all types of motor vehicles with 4 wheels or more from crossing the bridge (only pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles and motorbikes are allowed) from December 6, 2024 until the completion of the construction repair.
Vehicles with 4 wheels or more can travel along the following routes: From National Highway 1 (Km605+200 - Km608+700) to provincial road 558D (Tien - Chau - Van Hoa Road), via Deo Con bypass connecting the 2 ends of provincial road 558B and other suitable traffic routes in the area.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, the Song Thai Bridge has been seriously degraded. The bridge surface is peeling and cracked, and the expansion joints made of reinforced rubber have been severely damaged. The two ends of the bridge abutments are eroded, with a high risk of collapse. Under the bridge, the concrete pillars are broken into large pieces, rusted, and there are signs of new concrete being applied.
