Yen Bai Bridge reopens to traffic
According to Lao Dong's report on January 4, after more than 2 months of banning traffic for inspection and repair, Yen Bai bridge has now resumed operation.
Mr. Tran Duc Lam (42 years old, Nguyen Phuc, Yen Bai city) said that since Yen Bai bridge was opened to traffic, it has created favorable conditions for people to travel.
"Like before, when Yen Bai bridge was banned from moving, to get to the other side of the river, we had to travel by Bach Lam bridge, more than 4km away, quite inconvenient. Now, traveling has returned to normal," said Mr. Lam.
According to the leader of the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province, from 6:00 p.m. on December 31, 2024, pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes, motorcycles and cars with 7 seats or less will be allowed to travel across Yen Bai bridge.
For other vehicles, they are still moving along the route through Tuan Quan, Bach Lam, Gioi Phien, and Van Phu bridges to ensure the safety of the bridges and traffic participants while waiting for the repair of Yen Bai bridge.
Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 3 (Yagi), Yen Bai bridge project, route Km280+500, National Highway 37 had to temporarily stop operation, prohibiting people and vehicles from traveling through the bridge from October 3, 2024.
Yen Bai Bridge, route Km280+500, National Highway 37 was completed and put into operation and use since 1992. The bridge is 305m long, 12.8m wide, 7m wide, has 6 spans, and is made of prestressed reinforced concrete.
Complete renovation of Van Phu bridge
Van Phu Bridge construction began in 2002 and was completed in 2004. The project has a total length of 474.96m; a total width of 10m; a permanent bridge of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete; and a total investment of 50 billion VND.
According to Lao Dong, many items on Van Phu bridge have been completed. Currently, vehicles have been circulating, bringing convenience to people's daily travel.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam (25 years old, Yen Ninh, Yen Bai city) said that people's travel from the city center to Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway has become convenient again.
"Like before, to get to the highway, we had to go around Gioi Phien bridge, which was very far and inconvenient. Luckily, the bridge has been opened to traffic, making travel less difficult," said Ms. Tam.
Previously, the Department of Transport of Yen Bai province announced traffic diversion at Van Phu bridge on Au Co street, Yen Bai city, from 0:00 on November 1, 2024 to December 29, 2024.
The diversion is to serve the repair of roadbeds, road surfaces and maintenance of bridge piers affected by floods.
It is known that the renovation item belongs to the project to repair Van Phu bridge, Mau A bridge, Rao bridge and Gua bridge, constructed by the joint venture of Mechanical Joint Stock Company 68 and Thang Long Construction - Yen Bai Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of nearly 10 billion VND.
According to the construction unit representative, workers are focusing on arranging labor force to ensure 3 shifts per day with about 7 workers to ensure completion on schedule as committed.
Currently, there are still some unfinished items including 2 transitional slabs at both ends, 2 top walls of the wing walls at both ends of the bridge abutments and the deck slab of span L1, and jacking up the beams to replace the bearings of span 1 and span 9.
Expected handover of all items before January 25, 2025.
