The intersection between the old National Highway 1A (now Do Muoi Street) and Nguyen Van Qua Street, also known as Dinh Intersection, has long been considered a traffic jam at the Northwest gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. According to Lao Dong's records at around 5:00 p.m. on July 16, the intersection area became chaotic.
Because the road is already narrow and the number of vehicles is too large, the situation of prolonged traffic jams on Nguyen Van Qua and Nguyen Thi Dang streets, motorbikes even overflow to the lane in the opposite direction, making it difficult for vehicles to travel.
On National Highway 1A, container trucks, trucks, and passenger cars crowded together, crowded with vehicles climbing onto the sidewalk to move.

Many people living around the area are tired of waiting for the overpass to escape the traffic jams and dust. Mr. Phi Van Cuong (49 years old), living near Dinh intersection, said that he heard that the overpass project had been under construction for a long time but had not yet started.
"My house is degraded because I don't dare to repair it, and every day I go out on the street and I'm afraid because there are too many big cars, which is extremely dangerous," said Mr. Cuong.
In the same situation, Mr. Vu Van Dung (77 years old) shared that his house is next to National Highway 1A, so he often has to close the door.
"This route is a vital route, connecting with many provinces and cities, so the traffic of vehicles and motorbikes is very large. In this area, there are still many workers and residents moving, so vehicles jostle each other, some run up to the side, some honk, and the smoke is dusty. Students and workers moving during rush hour are also greatly affected, said Mr. Dung, looking forward to the project being implemented soon.
Not only people living there, but many people working on this route also feel worried. Ms. Phan Thi Tuyet Nhi, a worker who often passes through this area, said: "There are too many cars, all are big cars. Every time I go to the street, I have to stop close to the sidewalk, watch behind, or if anything, I have to jump onto the sidewalk in time.
According to the plan, the overpass construction project at this intersection will officially start on August 19, with a total investment of about 400 billion VND. This is considered a key traffic project planned by Ho Chi Minh City to start construction on the occasion of National Day, September 2.
The project includes the construction of a reinforced concrete overpass over 433 m long, of which the main bridge is about 239 m long, 17.5 m wide, with 4 lanes. The bridge is designed to allow traffic at a maximum speed of up to 80km/h. In addition, the project also includes a service road system, renovation of traffic branches, and many other auxiliary items.
People expect that when the overpass is completed, it will not only reduce traffic congestion but also significantly improve the quality of life at the Northwest gateway, which has been overloaded for many years.
