In Tiep Nhut hamlet, Mr. Lam Uong's house was selected as Voting Area No. 23, belonging to Election Unit No. 6 of Tai Van commune (Can Tho City).
Mr. Uong said that more than a month ago, the commune government came to exchange and borrow houses to arrange polling stations to serve the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, in order to create favorable conditions for people in the area to participate in the election.
As soon as I heard about borrowing the house, I immediately agreed. It is a great honor for my house to be chosen as a polling station," Mr. Uong shared.
His house has an area of about 10m wide, 25m long, located in a convenient location for people to travel in the area. To serve the election work well, Mr. Uong has proactively prepared tables and chairs, a ballot box area, a place for voters to record ballots and a parking area.
Not only that, the family's garden is cared for with neat flowers and ornamental plants, creating a spacious and beautiful space for the polling station. Family members also actively support the locality in logistics work.
Voting area No. 23 has 837 voters participating in the election. As a long-time resident in the locality, Mr. Uong knows almost every household in the area.
My family has lived here for a long time, so we are familiar with each household. On election day, if I see any voter shortage, I will call to remind them immediately, except for those who go to work far away," he said.
Not only lending the voting venue, his family also prepared more tables and chairs and proactively cooked to serve the forces on duty at the polling station for 2 days, March 14 and 15.
My family has prepared everything. Being able to contribute a little effort to serve the election day, my family is very happy," Mr. Uong excitedly said.
According to the Election Committee of Tai Van commune (Can Tho City), as of March 12, the whole commune had 20,461 voters arranged to participate in voting in 27 polling areas, located at schools, cultural houses, salatels and 4 points at people's houses.
Mr. Dang Thanh Quang - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Tai Van commune (Can Tho City) - said that the election preparation work in the area was carried out seriously and in accordance with legal regulations. Preparation steps were carried out democratically, publicly, and in accordance with procedures; the constituency structure was ensured to be reasonable according to regulations. The security and order situation in the area was maintained, creating favorable conditions for the successful organization of the election.
According to the Can Tho City Election Commission, the city has established 103 commune-level election committees; 6 National Assembly deputy election committees; 28 City People's Council deputy election committees and 665 commune-level People's Council deputy election committees, with 2,597 electoral groups serving more than 3.1 million voters.
To create favorable conditions for voters to participate in the election, localities have arranged polling stations at many familiar locations to people such as schools, cultural activity houses, hamlet headquarters, community cultural houses or people's houses with convenient locations.
The selection of locations is carefully considered to ensure convenient travel for voters, especially the elderly and people in areas far from the center.
