On October 10, the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control of Can Tho City organized a model of "Fishermen's Rendezvous", aiming to propagate, raise awareness and responsibility of fishermen in legal seafood exploitation, contributing to the whole country in removing the "yellow card" warning of the European Commission (EC).

According to the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control of Can Tho City, the locality currently has 72 km of coastline, 797 fishing vessels with more than 5,700 workers directly at sea. The "Fishermen's Appointment Point" model is considered a familiar, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-implement approach, helping people understand the regulations, share difficulties and remove obstacles in the practice process.
The activity is of great significance in propagating and guiding fishermen to comply with regulations on fishing vessel management, legal exploitation and protection of aquatic resources, while demonstrating the determination of the locality in its efforts to remove the EC's "yellow card" warning
The program will be maintained periodically every month, or organized suddenly when there is a new policy of the Government. Professional staff will go to each locality and household to encourage ship owners to strictly declare, register, inspect, and update fishing vessel data into the Vnfishbase system, ensuring strict, transparent and effective management.

Can Tho City is one of the localities with key fishing grounds, with the fishing industry developing strongly for a long time, contributing a significant part to the country's aquaculture and seafood output. To work with the whole country to resolutely remove the "yellow card", the People's Committee of Can Tho City has issued many plans and official dispatches on inspection, examination and control of seafood exploitation activities at sea and at fishing ports, in order to strictly implement the Government's direction in preventing and combating IUU fishing.
The Border Guard has also launched a peak campaign against IUU fishing, focusing on propaganda and legal education for fishermen and vehicle owners; raising awareness and committing not to violate foreign waters; strictly controlling departure, resolutely not allowing ships to go to sea if they do not meet legal and safe conditions. The forces also coordinated to detect, prevent and strictly handle violations, and at the same time dismantle hook lines to bring fishing vessels to illegally exploit in foreign waters.
To date, 100% of ships have been granted licenses to exploit and update data on the Vnfishbase and VNeID systems. From the beginning of 2023 to now, there has been no case of illegal mining border crossings in foreign waters.
