Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a plan to inspect, examine and control the exploitation of aquatic products of fishing vessels at sea and at fishing ports in the area.
The monitoring, inspection and control contents include unloading aquatic products through fishing ports; fishing vessels arriving and leaving fishing ports; fishing vessels entering or leaving Border Control Stations; fishing vessels that lose connection to monitoring journeys (VMS); fishing activities at sea and at fishing ports.
Accordingly, all fishing vessels leaving the port must have 100% of their records, licenses, VMS equipment checked and have their actual checks before leaving the port. For ships docking at port, the authorities will check all ships with a length of 24 meters or more; Smaller ships are randomly inspected at a minimum rate of 20% for tuna fishing vessels, 10% for trawlers and 5% for other occupations; fishing vessels with signs of violating regulations on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.

The authorities will also increase patrols and controls on seas, river mouths, seas and fishing ports, focusing on strictly handling acts of illegal fishing without a license, using electric pulses, explosives or fishing gear to destroy the environment.
Propaganda and mobilization of fishermen to comply with regulations against IUU fishing will be promoted, helping people better understand the importance of sustainable exploitation, protecting aquatic resources, and contributing to urgently removing the EC's "yellow card" warning for Vietnamese seafood.
Can Tho City People's Committee requested the effective synchronous implementation of activities, timely detection and handling of violations in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
