Can Tho City People's Committee has officially issued the Plan to Launch the "Anti-Plastic Waste" Movement in the city in the period 2026 - 2030, showing a detailed roadmap drawn from offices to each household.
Accordingly, Can Tho City sets a target that by 2030, 100% of agencies, units and localities in the city will implement activities to reduce plastic waste; strive to reduce at least 70% of the use of single-use plastic products in meetings, conferences and agency activities.
100% of communes and wards build and maintain at least 1 community model to reduce plastic waste.
100% of schools in the city organize propaganda and education on reducing plastic waste; strive for at least 50% of schools to implement the "school reduces plastic waste" model.

At least 80% of supermarkets and shopping centers in the city will reduce the use of non-biodegradable plastic bags and replace them with environmentally friendly products.
Can Tho City strives to have at least 70% of households implement domestic solid waste classification at source by 2030; at least 30% of manufacturing and trading enterprises generating plastic waste in the city apply solutions to reduce, reuse or recycle plastic waste, towards the circular economy model and green economic model.
This plan aims to raise awareness and responsibility of agencies, organizations, businesses and the community about reducing the generation of disposable plastic products; strengthen reusing, recycling and limit the use of difficult-to-decompose plastic bags.
Can Tho City People's Committee also proposed a series of launching contents and assigned responsibilities to the Can Tho Department of Agriculture and Environment as the focal unit to urge, monitor, inspect, supervise, and summarize the implementation results of departments, agencies, political organizations - unions and localities to implement the annual plan and report to the City People's Committee on the implementation results.
