In recent days, Hanoi has increased air pollution in the late afternoon and evening. If the air quality index remains at an average level during the day, the later it gets into the evening, the higher it increases, at many times recording the highest and secondest level of pollution in the world.
According to the survey, the IQ Air application at 5:30 p.m. on June 20, Hanoi's AQI was at the orange level of 135, at a level not good for sensitive groups. But by 7:30 p.m. on June 20, Hanoi's air quality index increased to 159 - a red threshold, which is harmful to health. This index also puts Hanoi first in the list of the most polluted cities in the world.
Following Hanoi is Kinshasa, Cong-go with AQI at 156 ( harmful to health).
According to the VN Air application of the Department of Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), Hanoi's air quality index also gradually increases as it gets evening. At 7:30 p.m., station 556 Nguyen Van Cu recorded the AQI at 128 (orange level), station DHBK gate parabol Giai Phong street had an AQI of 101 (orange level) - not good for sensitive groups.
On June 20, Hanoi put into operation 100 modern environmental vehicles and equipment (meeting Euro 6 emission standards or using electricity) with the desire to improve labor productivity and contribute to reducing environmental pollution.
The policy of limiting and moving towards stopping motorbikes in Hanoi's inner city districts has been set out since 2017, with the goal of gradually controlling personal vehicles, reducing traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
At a working session with the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM) on June 9, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that this plan cannot be delayed forever. According to Mr. Thanh, the steps will be taken cautiously, taking into account specific economic, social and cultural conditions, but not stopping or delaying the deadline.
