On February 22, the commander of the Nha Trang beach rescue team (under the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, Khanh Hoa province) said that the unit had just rescued two tourists swept away by waves while swimming in the Nha Trang beach area.
Accordingly, on the morning of the same day, during a patrol, members of the rescue team discovered two tourists washed ashore by waves, struggling in the middle of the large water.
Recognizing the dangerous situation, the rescue force immediately approached and brought both ashore safely.
Previously, on February 20 (the 4th day of the Binh Ngo Tet), the Nha Trang beach rescue team successfully rescued 10 people, including local people and tourists, who were sunk by waves while swimming in the sea.
The rescue team commander warned that on the first day of the year, the weather in the area will be unusual, sea waves will be 2-3m high, posing a risk of sweeping away swimmers, especially in areas with offshore currents.
Although the beach management unit has put up warning signs of danger, advising not to swim when the waves are big, there are still many people and tourists who are subjective and disregard the recommendations to go to the beach.
To ensure safety, rescue and relief forces have arranged 100% of their personnel to be on duty, increased patrols along the beach and directly reminded people and tourists not to swim in high waves and strong winds.
The Nha Trang beach rescue team recommends that people and tourists seriously comply with warning signs, do not swim in the sea when there are big waves to avoid unfortunate incidents that may occur.
