Accordingly, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department discovered that some social network accounts Facebook, TikTok, YouTube... posted and shared articles, images, and videos with content related to Grab drivers simultaneously "turning off apps", stopping operations or calling for the application to be turned off on September 12 and 13, 2026.
The content of articles calling on drivers to turn off the application often uses phrases such as "Grab drivers simultaneously turn off the app", "strike", "Grab paralyzed", "all drivers stop operating" or gives opinions and figures about too low income, high discounts but does not cite specific sources, has not been verified. Notably, many social media accounts re-post with the aim of attracting views, attracting likes, increasing interaction...
The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department has worked with Grab Co., Ltd., determining that the Company did not issue notices on September 12, 2026 and September 13, 2026, requesting drivers not to arbitrarily turn off the application for two consecutive days.
At the same time, Grab said that service operations in recent days have been going on normally. Indicators related to service quality, driver partner operations and the platform are maintained stably.
The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department has worked with a YouTube account owner who posted information named D. X. H (born in 1996, residing in Hanoi).
At the police station, D. X. H admitted to posting an article related to calling for the simultaneous shutdown of the app, exposing the truth about cheap rides and a series of Grab drivers spreading leaflets... on personal YouTube accounts to attract interaction.
The Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Hanoi Police Department has administratively sanctioned the above case for the act of "Creating and disseminating unverified false information affecting the legitimate rights and interests of organizations, individuals and the information environment in cyberspace" as stipulated in Point a, Clause 2, Article 11 of Decree No. 330/2026/ND-CP dated August 19, 2026 of the Government regulating administrative sanctions in the field of cyber security and personal data protection.
Hanoi City Police requests people to raise their vigilance when accessing unverified information; at the same time, when participating in social networks, it is necessary to pay attention not to rush to believe in unverified information, especially content with headings such as "simultaneously turn off apps", "Grab stops operating", "Grab paralyzed"...
Do not share, comment or republish articles whose origin, timing and accuracy have not been clearly identified.
When encountering images, videos or screenshots online, it is necessary to check the time, location and source of posting, to avoid old information being reused or content being cut and pasted causing misunderstanding.
Do not share content that is provocative, calls for concentration, causes insecurity, disorder or causes panic in the community when the accuracy and legality have not been determined.
Promptly report to functional agencies when detecting acts of posting false information on cyberspace.
