The People's Committee of Cao Bang province has just announced information on the local socio-economic results achieved in 2024. Accordingly, in the context of intertwined difficulties and challenges, the growth of total product in the area reached the highest level since the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, estimated at 6.74%.
Budget revenue reached over 2.5 trillion VND (exceeding 43% of the central government's estimate). Cao Bang province's target for 2025 is to grow over 8%.
Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that the above results for Cao Bang province are "very proud", because the locality achieved the above results in a very difficult context. The province is a depression of the whole country in terms of economy and other development conditions.
Among the growth sectors in 2024, Mr. Anh said, industry and construction will achieve the best growth, estimated to increase by nearly 20% compared to 2023.
In addition, the trade, service and transport sectors contributed positively to the overall growth of the entire economy with an increase of 7.22%. In particular, tourism services recovered and developed when the province welcomed 1.8 million visitors, with total tourism revenue estimated to increase by 9.8% compared to 2023.
In 2024, Cao Bang province will accelerate the implementation of key projects and works to create growth momentum for the province. In particular, the progress of the investment project to build the Dong Dang (Lang Son province) - Tra Linh (Cao Bang province) expressway has been accelerated.
In 2024, the province will also focus on taking care of the lives of policy beneficiaries and strengthening poverty reduction. The poverty rate in the province in 2024 will decrease by over 6,000 poor households (equivalent to 4.67%).
In addition to building a scenario for a double-digit economic growth rate as directed by the Prime Minister, Cao Bang province is also accelerating steps to upgrade a number of border gates in the area into international border gates.
According to the Prime Minister's planning of border gates on the Vietnam - China land border in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Cao Bang province will have 3 international border gates: Ly Van (Vietnam) - Thac Long (China), Ta Lung (Vietnam) - Thuy Khau (China) and Tra Linh (Vietnam) - Long Bang (China).
At present, along the entire border between Cao Bang province and Guangxi province (China), there is only one pair of international border gates, Tra Linh - Long Bang.
Recorded by PV on January 11, Ta Lung border gate in Ta Lung town (Quang Hoa district, Cao Bang, Vietnam) is the end point of National Highway 3, connecting with Thuy Khau bridge on Bac Vong river, connecting to Thuy Khau border gate, Guangxi province, China.
Officially put into operation in 2005, before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were about 300 - 400 people completing exit and entry procedures through Ta Lung border gate every day.
However, according to research, the naming or recognition of Ta Lung International Border Gate is only unilateral on the Vietnamese side, the authorities of the neighboring country have not yet reached an agreement to upgrade it to an international border gate.
"In 2025, the locality will promote the dialogue process to officially announce Ta Lung as an international border gate with the other side," informed a representative of the Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee.
In addition, Ly Van - Thac Long border gate is planning to invest in building a cargo clearance route that meets the conditions to be upgraded to an international border gate.
