On December 5, component project 2 and component 3 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway were connected. Thereby, from the Long Thanh area (Dong Nai) to the Ho Chi Minh City border is basically seamless, waiting for the completion of the final parts to form a continuous moving axis from Dong Nai to Ba Ria (Ho Chi Minh City).
The Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Phase 1 is one of the key transport projects, which the Government requires to be completed soon and put into synchronous operation, in order to connect the Southeast region. The project has a total length of about 53.7 km divided into 3 component projects. Of which, component project 1 is about 16 km long, component project 2 is about 18.2 km long through Dong Nai province; component project 3 is about 19.5 km long through Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau area).
According to the Management Board of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Regional and Agricultural Sector Project and the Ho Chi Minh City, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Component 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City was technically opened to traffic on April 19. Currently, the construction teams are focusing on lighting systems, traffic safety, and completing traffic organization at intersections.
The site clearance for the main area has been 100% completed, and additional areas are being implemented. All 4 main bridges on component project 3 have been completed; the remaining 2 overpasses are being accelerated to complete in December 2025. The service routes also reached more than 95% of the volume. Thereby, ensuring the project progress (excluding the added intersection and the transversal overpass) to complete the site before December 15. The remaining items of the project are guaranteed to be completed before December 31.
After being put into use, the route will expand traffic connections for Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, connecting the span between Bien Hoa, Long Thanh (Dong Nai) and Phu My, Ba Ria, Vung Tau (HCMC); contributing to significantly reducing the load on National Highway 51, shortening travel time from Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai and connecting Long Thanh airport, Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, creating new development momentum for the key economic region in the South.
