On the morning of January 19, the My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) announced the official opening to traffic of the main expressway section Hau Giang - Ca Mau, belonging to the North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project, starting from 11 am on the same day.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project has a total main route length of 110.85km, invested with a scale of 4 lanes, with a total investment of more than 27,523 billion VND. The project is divided into two component projects including the Can Tho - Hau Giang section and the Hau Giang - Ca Mau section.
In which, the Can Tho - Hau Giang section with a length of 37.07km has been completed and put into operation from December 22, 2025. The Hau Giang - Ca Mau section with a length of 73.2km is organized for operation according to the traffic organization plan approved by competent authorities, officially opened to traffic from 11:00 AM on January 19, 2026.

Regarding the traffic organization plan, vehicles traveling in the direction of Can Tho - Ca Mau go from the beginning of the route (connecting the Can Tho - Hau Giang section) at Km2014, moving to IC12 intersection (Km2087+233) and following the traffic sign system to exit the expressway.
In the opposite direction, vehicles from Ca Mau and An Giang enter the expressway at the IC12 intersection (Km2087+223). Vehicles from Ca Mau follow the Southern Coastal Corridor road (Xuyen A road) to the IC12 intersection and turn right to enter the expressway; vehicles from An Giang also follow this route, to the IC12 intersection and turn left along the turnaround to enter the expressway.

My Thuan Project Management Board said that vehicles not allowed to circulate on the highway include specialized motorbikes with design speeds lower than the prescribed minimum speed, motorbikes, similar types of motorbikes, motorbikes, rudimentary vehicles and pedestrians.
The operating speed on the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway is regulated at a maximum of 80km/h and a minimum of 60km/h.
