The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (Congress XIV) is a very important conference, playing a role in continuing the past and future, in the context that Vietnam has made great strides in development in the past 10 years and General Secretary To Lam, in his role as the leader of Vietnam, has set out a new era of development.
Therefore, this Party Congress is of utmost importance, continuing to maintain the leadership role of the Party and persistently pursuing the socialist path.
This is the assessment of Professor Chu Chan Minh - Director of the Honorary Institute of South Asia-Southeast Asia Studies at the Yunnan Provincial Institute of Social Sciences (China) - when exchanging with reporters in China about the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
According to Professor Chu Chan Minh, the 14th Congress plays a very important role in the future development of Vietnam when discussing the development path, policies to achieve the goals to 2030 and realize the vision to 2045. The convocation of the 14th Congress is truly a major event in the political life of the Vietnamese people. He expressed hope that Vietnam will continue to develop more strongly through persistently pursuing the socialist path.
After the 14th Congress, Vietnam will continue to develop and shape the path of future development, in which it will especially persevere in the leadership of the Party and the socialist path, continue to promote the achievements made in the past, and promote stronger development in the future. According to Mr. Chu Chan Minh, Vietnam is on the right track with widespread reform measures and continuous innovation in recent times.
Referring to the new views stated in the Document of the 14th Congress such as environmental protection, economic development, national defense and security... Professor Chu Chan Minh said that these are contents quite suitable for the reality in Vietnam today. In any country, when the economy and society develop to a certain level, environmental issues will become prominent and important for national economic development.
He believes that Vietnam has grasped the practical problems facing it by linking environmental solutions with socio-economic development, which is completely consistent with Vietnam's reality as well as with the problems that developing countries are facing and need to solve in the development process.
According to Mr. Chu Chan Minh, this is a new perspective, a question posed by the Communist Party of Vietnam in the specific context of Vietnam.
Professor Chu Chan Minh emphasized that in the coming time, Vietnam needs to strengthen environmental governance; and at the same time pay attention to climate change, a major issue that is significantly impacting Vietnam, causing natural disasters such as storms, floods and droughts. He assessed that Vietnam raising this issue right in the current development phase is a very good approach. It is impossible to wait until 2030, when the country has developed high, to pay attention to environmental issues, then the country may suffer a lot of damage.
Mr. Chu Chan Minh affirmed that linking environmental governance with socio-economic development creates a solid foundation for Vietnam's future development, including achieving the planned goals set for 2030 and 2045, which is very appropriate and accurate.
As in the past time, Vietnam has carried out very strong reforms, including streamlining the government apparatus, merging ministries, departments, branches, provinces, cities and abolishing district-level administrative units. These are measures that the Communist Party of Vietnam has implemented based on the actual situation.
Personally, I think this is very practical, effective and correctly solves key issues," Mr. Chu Chan Minh emphasized.
In addition to environmental issues, linking security issues with economic development is also very important. The fact that the Communist Party of Vietnam mentioned these issues in the document of the 14th Congress is very important. Mr. Chu Chan Minh assessed that considering security, economy and society in a comprehensive way, not separately, is a very good and appropriate viewpoint.
