Expressway worth more than 9,700 billion VND through Can Tho has not identified the source of 0.62 million m3 of stone

On August 22, Mr. Le Cong Ly - Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee led a working delegation to inspect the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction investment project phase 1, component project 2 section passing through Can Tho City.

Mr. Phan Minh Tri - Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works of Can Tho City (Project Management Board) said that the total value of 4 main construction packages and 1 construction package of the traffic safety system is 3,835,988/6,249,638 billion VND, reaching a rate of 61.38%.

The total demand for sand filling and leveling materials according to the construction contract is about 5.121 million m3 of loose sand blocks. The source has been identified at about 5.279 million m3. Currently, about 3.305 million m3 is being exploited for the project.

Currently, the project is receiving sand at Hoa Hung 4 mines, Tan Phong mine in Dong Thap province and NTSH mine. 10a in Vinh Long province. The remaining sand demand to complete the load is about 1.443 million m3. Phase 1 load is expected to be completed in October - November 2026.

For the demand for stone material for construction, it is about 1.041 million m3; of which, about 0.282 million m3 has been gathered for the project and has been used. The volume of stone that has identified the source is 0.353 million m3, which is committed to support by An Giang province, and the remaining volume that has not yet identified the source is about 0.62 million m3.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Son - Deputy Director of Ngoc Bao Trading Construction Co., Ltd. - the construction unit of Package No. 1 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project informed that the unit is focusing on loading, and at the same time preparing the necessary conditions to construct the next items.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dang Son, in the process of implementation, the biggest difficulty before was the source of sand materials. Because Can Tho City does not have sand sources to meet project needs, contractors have to mobilize materials from neighboring provinces. Up to now, sand sources have been basically supplied, helping contractors have conditions to accelerate the loading on the route.

Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Le Cong Ly requested the Project Management Board to continue to focus on directing and operating, closely follow the project implementation progress; proactively coordinate with departments, branches, localities and related units to urgently remove difficulties and obstacles, especially regarding the source of sand and stone materials for construction, ensuring to meet the demand for materials according to the project progress.

In addition, it is necessary to urgently mobilize human resources, machinery, and equipment to accelerate construction and compensate for the delayed volume.
