The Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board (PMB) said that the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction investment project phase 1, including component projects 2, 3 and 4, needs about 16.649 million m3 of loose sand to serve filling work. Up to now, the volume of sand that has reached the construction site is about 10.579 million m3.
At component project 2, the volume of sand for loading work currently lacking is 0.46 million m3. Therefore, the PMB has studied the option of using commercial sand.
According to the Project Management Board, the expected commercial price is about 130,000 VND/m3, an increase of 113,000 VND/m3 compared to the sand price calculated in the estimate. In the case of using commercial sand for the entire volume of sand that is still lacking (about 0.46 million m3), the estimated cost increase is about 51.98 billion VND.
In addition, the exploitation capacity of mines is currently not high, only from 1,000 - 2,000 m3/day, which does not meet the material demand at the project.
For component project 4, with a total sand demand of about 8.1 million m3, to date, about 3.682 million m3 has been brought to the project. With a very large volume of sand still lacking, the PMB has also studied the option of using commercial sand, estimated at about 307.5 billion VND.
Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee informed that before May 31, the Project Management Board must accurately review the actual demand for sand and stone of the entire project; clearly identify the demand for sea sand use.
In addition, consider adjusting prices, acceptance, sand coordination, and proposing the use of commercial sand (if necessary).
The Chau Doc - Soc Trang - Can Tho expressway project phase 1 has a total length of about 188km, a total investment of about 44,691 billion VND, a 4-lane phase scale, and a design speed of 100km/h.
The route is divided into 4 component projects, of which component project 1 through An Giang is about 57.2km long.
Component projects 2, 3, 4 passing through Can Tho City have a length of about 132 km. Total investment of more than 31,200 billion VND. The project has a total of 11 construction packages.
