On February 24, the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic and Civil Works Project Management Board said that the project is organized for construction throughout the Lunar New Year. Up to now, localities have handed over about 5 km of clean ground in the area at the beginning of the expressway. Where the ground is handed over, the contractor organizes construction immediately.
For component project 1 (Km0+000 – Km22+000), 13 construction teams have been arranged throughout the Binh Ngo Tet 2026. In which, package XL. 01 mobilized 8 construction teams, focusing on leveling the ground, organic excavation, roadbed construction, drilling piles for the An Nhon bridge and preparing for the construction of the North-South expressway overpass.
Package XL. 02 deploys 5 construction teams, focusing on leveling the ground at Song Kon and Ha Nhe bridges; drilling piles, installing concrete mixing stations and processing box culvert components.
Provincial functional sectors continue to accelerate site clearance according to the principle "clearance to where, construction to there"; select capable contractors, absolutely not trading quality for progress; and at the same time strictly manage material sources, avoiding fragmented construction, affecting the quality of the project.
Gia Lai province strives to basically complete compensation, support, and resettlement work in the second quarter of 2026; complete component project 1 in June 2028 and put it into operation in July 2028.
The Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project is about 125 km long, passing through 17 communes and wards, is a national key project with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND. The expressway is designed with 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 24.75 m, and a design speed of 100 km/h.
After completion, the project will contribute to promoting trade, developing logistics services, transporting agricultural products, strengthening inter-regional connectivity, creating motivation for socio-economic development for the region. Currently, Quy Nhon and Pleiku are mainly connected through National Highway 19 with a travel time of about 4 hours. When the expressway is completed, the travel time between the two cities is expected to be shortened to about 1.5 hours.
