On September 20, Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) said that the last 13km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway has just been completed, from the entrance of Co Ma tunnel (Dai Lanh commune) to Dien Tho commune.
This event marks the closure of the entire project, helping the North - South expressway pass through Khanh Hoa, while enhancing connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands region through the Deo Ca tunnel.
The 13km section is constructed by VNCN E&C Company and Hai Dang Joint Stock Company.

During the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties such as site clearance, relocation of technical infrastructure and shortage of materials, affecting progress.
After adding resources and equipment, contractors have completed the entire workload, with accumulated output reaching VND 1,374 billion, equivalent to 100% of the construction value.
The Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway has a total investment of more than 11,800 billion VND. In the first phase, the route will be built with 4 lanes, an exploitation speed of 90km/h; when completed, it will reach a scale of 6 lanes, with a maximum speed of 120km/h.
The route not only takes on the role of the heart of the South Central region but also opens up new development space for North Khanh Hoa, associated with the potential of Van Phong international transit port.

According to the leader of Project Management Board 7, the operation of the entire route is important in reducing traffic volume on National Highway 1, while significantly shortening travel time between localities.
Previously, from April 2025, 70km of the route was opened to traffic, creating a positive effect in freight transport and passenger traffic.
The project has also completed all site clearance and resettlement work, building 34 bridges, 85 underpasses for people, 40km of service roads with many intersections and modern rest stops.
In particular, Co Ma intersection - the point directly connecting to National Highway 1 and Hoa Son overpass in Tu Bong commune are typical items, not only enhancing the connectivity of the expressway but also improving local infrastructure.
The exploitation of the entire Van Phong - Nha Trang route is expected to create momentum for socio-economic development for the whole region.
The route opens up opportunities to form a chain of urban areas, industrial parks, and services along the expressway corridor; at the same time, contributing to making Van Phong and Nha Trang tourism break through, becoming an attractive destination in the South Central region.
