In July 2025, the Department of Minerals and Environmental Protection of Khanh Hoa province is publicly reporting a proposal to grant an environmental license for the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Rest Stop project.
The rest stop will be arranged on both sides at Km334+900, in the area of Ninh Hoa town (old).
According to the records, the rest stop has an expected capacity of 28,000m3 of gasoline/year, food and beverage services serve about 6,200 visitors/day, vehicle repair services for 3,500 vehicles/year and 12,640 vehicles/year with electric vehicle charging service.
Petrolimex assessed that this is a large-scale project, playing an important role in serving the needs of rest, fuel, vehicle repair and supporting modern transport infrastructure for the North - South expressway.
The implementation of the above project is also in line with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

According to the plan, the project has a maximum investment period of 14 months. However, the progress depends on the agreement and approval process of the investor, the Expressway Department, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province and relevant ministries and branches.
It is expected that after the investment policy is approved and the site handover is handed over, the project will be implemented according to the following timelines:
From now until August 2025, the investor plans to complete the procedures for technical design, fire prevention and fighting, environment, construction permits and contractor selection.
From August 2025 to March 2026, Petrolimex will start construction and construct the main infrastructure.
From February 2026 to April 2026, Petrolimex will purchase equipment, complete installation and put into operation.
When completed, Van Phong - Nha Trang rest stop will become one of the modern stops, contributing to the synchronization of expressway infrastructure, better serving the travel needs of people and tourists.
