The Tan Ky - Tan Quy bridge project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in 2017 and officially started construction in early 2018 under the BOT (build - operate - transfer) model. The bridge spans the Tham Luong - Ben Cat canal, is 385 m long, including an 83 m main bridge with 4 lanes and sidewalks for pedestrians, and two approach roads at both ends of the bridge. The total investment is nearly 500 billion VND.
After many years of delays, the Tan Ky - Tan Quy bridge project is now speeding up its construction progress to soon put it into service for the city's residents. Mr. Trinh Linh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), said that the Tan Ky - Tan Quy bridge has now reached 85% of the construction progress.
The remaining volume of the project is concentrated at the beginning of the bridge adjacent to National Highway 1. According to Mr. Phuong, the current project progress still ensures the plan to open this bridge to traffic on January 15, 2025.
According to Mr. Phuong, the biggest difficulty of the project at present is the supply of construction materials, especially crushed stone and crushed stone. The Board has requested construction units to gather materials and request permission to transport materials during the day to speed up the progress. At the same time, "3 shifts" construction has also been implemented to ensure the early completion of the main items.
According to Lao Dong at the construction site on December 27, workers and many machines are busy constructing the project. The shape of the bridge has been revealed and workers are paving concrete and installing railings on both sides of the bridge...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lua (living in Binh Tan district) said that the project that had been buried for many years has been revived, so she and the locals are very excited. "I hope the bridge will be completed soon because in the past few days there has been a lot of dust because of the construction site, and there are a lot of vehicles passing by, so there are often traffic jams during rush hour," Ms. Lua said.
