According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Thu Thiem 4 bridge construction project is identified as a key and urgent traffic project, which needs to be prioritized for investment in order to gradually synchronize the regional technical infrastructure system according to the plan approved by the Prime Minister.

Thu Thiem 4 bridge when completed will shorten the connecting distance from the East area (Thu Duc City, Binh Thanh before) to the South area (Districts 7, 8, Nha Be, Binh Chanh before).

At the same time, Thu Thiem 4 bridge helps reduce traffic pressure for existing roads such as Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Khanh Hoi bridge, Huynh Tan Phat - Luu Trong Lu - Ben Nghe, Huynh Tan Phat - Nguyen Van Linh intersections, as well as the Tan Thuan Industrial Park area.

In addition, the project also creates conditions to attract investment, develop tourism, promote the formation and development of Thu Thiem New Urban Area, and create new momentum for the development of the Southern Urban Area of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to promoting socio-economic growth of the City.
