Regarding the lack of light for Can Tho Bridge and the two approach roads to the bridge, causing difficulties and insecurities for people's traffic at night for many months, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Director of Road Management Area 4 (Ministry of Construction) informed that on May 23, a bidding for purchasing transformers, electricity accumulation, and replacement of damaged equipment will be opened. After that, the unit deployed and completed the repair of the power outage in June 2025.

The Director of Road Management Area 4 also said that he has requested Can Tho Bridge Joint Stock Company (the bridge operator) to use a generator to provide electricity to light up Can Tho Bridge and the approach roads on both sides while waiting for a comprehensive solution.

Mr. Hoang Chau Long - Deputy Director of Can Tho Bridge Joint Stock Company (management and maintenance unit) - said that the Can Tho Bridge lighting system uses 10 transformer stations (Can Tho 6 stations, Vinh Long 4 stations). Before the Lunar New Year 2025, the medium-voltage cable line from the power supply of Binh Minh town to the main station had incidents of cable explosions and lead pipeline explosions, affecting the lighting supply for the project.

According to the reporter's records, the situation of street lights not working occurred widely, extending from the main bridge body to the access roads in Vinh Long and Can Tho. Many sections of the road are hundreds of meters, even kilometers, submerged in the misty darkness when night falls. This causes vision to be seriously limited for drivers, especially for motorbikes.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy (Soc Trang province) driving a truck shared: "Crossing the bridge and the two access routes to the bridge at night is a nightmare. At night, there was no way back and forth, and there were many vehicles. Just a little neglect could cause an immediate collision."

"We hope that the authorities will intervene and have a quick and effective solution. People's safety is paramount, we cannot let this situation continue any longer," Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - a resident of Cai Rang district, Can Tho city was upset.
Can Tho Bridge is not only a traffic project but also an important driving force, promoting the development of the Mekong Delta region. The prolonged lack of light not only causes inconvenience and danger but also affects the vital role of this bridge.
The Can Tho Bridge project has a total length of 15.85km, spanning the Hau River, connecting Vinh Long province with Can Tho. This is the cable-stayed bridge with the longest main span in Southeast Asia (550m). The project has a total investment of VND 4,832 billion. According to Can Tho Bridge Joint Stock Company, there are currently about 29,000 cars of all kinds and nearly 35,000 motorbikes crossing this bridge every day.
