On the morning of May 11, the People's Committee of Chau Thanh district (Tay Ninh province) informed that a serious subsidence had just occurred in the area at Hoa Binh bridge, in Hoa Thanh commune.
As noted by labor at the scene, the bridge surface is seriously subsided, forming a deep pit almost occupying the entire width of the bridge. At the time of the incident, a white car and a motorbike circulating through the bridge had fallen into the pit. Both vehicles were seriously damaged.
Fortunately, there were no human casualties in the incident.
Hoa Binh Bridge is a project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term. The bridge was inaugurated on April 25, 2025.
The project is invested by the Chau Thanh District Construction Investment Project Management Board, with a total cost of more than 37 billion VND from the provincial and district budgets. The bridge is built with a reinforced concrete structure, 450 m long, 12 m wide, spanning the Soc Hoa Hoi canal, connecting the two communes of Hoa Thanh and Hoa Hoi.
According to the plan, Hoa Binh Bridge is expected to be completed in June 2025. However, the project was accelerated and handed over for use from April 22, about a month and a half earlier than expected.
The cause of the incident is currently being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
