On March 18, the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Bac Nha Trang ward is still coordinating with relevant units to trace the origin of untreated wastewater discharged directly into the sea, after people's reflections.
In March 2026, people recorded that in the area of the park north of Tran Phu bridge, a cloudy black water appeared, accumulating into large puddles on the sandy beach and then flowing straight into the sea.
In the water, there is a lot of domestic waste such as nylon bags, plastic, branches... accompanied by an unpleasant odor.

This situation not only causes environmental pollution, affects the marine ecosystem but also tarnishes the image of a tourist city, especially when the above area is located on the central coast, often with many people and tourists swimming and strolling.
Mr. Duc Thao - a resident in Nha Trang area assessed that prolonged direct discharge poses a potential risk to public health, and at the same time causes serious unsightliness in the beach area.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Xuan Loc - Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Bac Nha Trang ward confirmed that the black wastewater flowing into the sea is true.
Through on-site inspection, functional forces determined that the waste discharge location is the discharge gate (circular culvert with a diameter of 800mm) belonging to the rainwater drainage system in the area of Pham Van Dong, Thap Ba and Ton That Tung streets.
Notably, at the time of inspection, although it was not raining, wastewater still flowed out from the discharge gate, seeped into the sandbar and carried a lot of waste, causing environmental pollution.
Inspection of the drainage system shows that in some collection pits, people arbitrarily connect domestic wastewater discharge pipes to the rainwater drainage system.
A part of the population also discharges wastewater directly into the road, then flows into the sea through the rainwater drainage system.
According to Mr. Loc, this discharge gate has existed for a long time, but the occurrence of smelly wastewater in unpoured conditions is an unusual sign, showing that there is illegal discharge.
Currently, functional agencies are focusing on reviewing and searching for organizations and individuals illegally connected to the drainage system. However, this work faces many difficulties because the pipeline system is located underground, making it difficult to accurately identify the discharge source.
However, the locality affirmed that it will resolutely handle violations, and at the same time request to thoroughly overcome the pollution situation, protect the marine environment and the tourism image of Nha Trang.
