Tang Long Bridge project is located on La Xuan Oai Street, across Trau Trau Canal, Thu Duc City. With a total investment of 741.1 billion VND, Tang Long Bridge has a total length of nearly 680m, of which the bridge is 231m long, 23m wide, 4 lanes and sidewalks.
Started in 2017, the project had to be temporarily suspended in 2019 due to land issues. In October 2023, after the Thu Duc City People's Committee handed over the land, the project was restarted, marking the return of a key transport project in the area.
According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board), as of early December 2024, the main items of the left bridge branch have made good progress. Of which, the cantilever span has been completed, the super T girders on spans 1 and 5 have been installed, and the retaining wall on the High-Tech Park side has also been completed. Workers are currently focusing on constructing the drainage system, technical trenches, approach roads and the final structures of the left bridge branch.
Currently, people still have to travel through the old iron bridge (parallel to the Tang Long bridge under construction), which often causes traffic jams due to the large number of vehicles, especially during rush hour.
According to the plan, after the left bridge branch is opened to traffic, the project will continue to implement the right bridge branch, with the goal of completing the entire project in 2025.
A representative of the Traffic Department said that the construction and ensuring smooth traffic at the same time is a big challenge. However, with determination and maximum mobilization of resources, the left bridge branch is expected to be put into operation by the end of this year, becoming a turning point in upgrading the traffic infrastructure of Thu Duc City. When completed, the project will not only relieve traffic pressure but also contribute to connecting the High-Tech Park with neighboring areas, promoting the sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City.
