On the afternoon of May 3, news from Vinh Hai Commune Police said that the unit is coordinating with professional forces of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police and relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire of 2 fishing boats while anchored at My Tan Fishing Port.
Previously, at about 10 pm on May 2, Vinh Hai Commune Police received a report from people about two fishing boats catching fire in the My Tan Fishing Port area (My Tan 2 hamlet, Vinh Hai commune).
Immediately after receiving the news, the commune police force mobilized 18 officers and soldiers to quickly arrive at the scene, coordinating with ship owners, people, fishing port staff, grassroots security and order protection forces, Thanh Hai Border Guard Station and Fire and Rescue Team Area 8 (Fire and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police) to organize firefighting and protect the scene.
After more than 2 hours of effort, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished.
According to initial information, fishing vessel number NT-02034TS (829 horsepower, 24m long, 6.5m wide, 2.95m high, built in 2019 with composite material) owned by Mr. Nguyen Den (born 1975, residing in My Tan 1 village, Vinh Hai commune) suddenly caught fire.
The fire then spread to fishing vessel number NT-02172TS (800 horsepower, 22.9m long, 6m wide, 2.8m high, built in 2019 with composite material) of Mr. Lam Van My (born 1989, residing in My Tan 2 village, Vinh Hai commune).
The fire caused both fishing boats to be heavily damaged. Initial estimated damage is over 6 billion VND.
Currently, the cause of the incident is being further investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
