At about 5:50 am on September 20, a serious fire occurred at a scrap yard facility in Hoa Long 3 hamlet, An Chau commune, An Giang province, owned by Ms. P.T. N. N (born 2007, residing in An Chau commune, An Giang province).
Because this scrap yard contained a large amount of flammable materials such as fabric scrap and plastic scrap, the fire quickly broke out, engulfing the entire area and creating a black smoke column tens of meters high, directly affecting the surrounding residential area.
Upon receiving the fire report, the Chau Thanh area Fire and Rescue Team coordinated with the My Thoi area Fire and Rescue Team; An Chau Commune Police; Commune Military force, other forces and local people quickly arrived at the scene of the fire, proceeded to put out the fire and relocate property.

Fire fighting deployment encountered many major obstacles due to the specific terrain and complex fire area, combined with the load of extremely flammable materials inside the yard.
Faced with the risk of the fire spreading widely threatening the densely populated residential area, the Chau Thanh Fire and Rescue Team mobilized 100% of officers and soldiers and many vehicles to approach the target to control the fire and support many surrounding households to proactively move their property to a safe place.
The large fire caused property damage but fortunately no casualties were recorded. However, the entire scrap yard was completely burned down by the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified.
Currently, functional forces are still continuing to maintain the scene blockade, focusing on thoroughly handling the smoldering fires to absolutely prevent the risk of re-outbreak.
