On February 4, the Traffic Police Department (PC08), Ho Chi Minh City Police said that from January 15 to now, affiliated units have made records of 133 violations for the offense of driving vehicles on sidewalks.

According to the Traffic Police Department, on some roads, the situation of business establishments, business households and people arbitrarily occupying sidewalks to park motorbikes, motorcycles, and even cars, is quite common. This causes sidewalks to narrow, forcing people to move down to the road, posing a potential risk of traffic accidents and causing urban unsightliness.
Faced with the above situation, teams and stations have developed specialized plans, arranged patrol and control forces, focusing on peak hours, focusing on handling acts of stopping and parking vehicles on sidewalks not in accordance with regulations; occupying sidewalks for illegal parking; arranging and arranging vehicles causing traffic obstruction.

For example, on the night of January 13, An Suong Traffic Police Team strengthened patrols and controls, focusing on handling acts of stopping and parking vehicles on sidewalks not in accordance with regulations; occupying sidewalks for illegal parking; arranging vehicles causing traffic obstruction.
Through inspection on the parallel route of National Highway 22 - an area with many restaurants and eateries - functional forces have made records of 24 cases of illegal motorbike parking on sidewalks, with fines ranging from 400,000 to 600,000 VND/case.
At the same time, business owners are required to remove signs, barriers, relocate vehicles and sign commitments not to use sidewalks for trading or parking.
At Pham Van Dong avenue, functional forces also recorded many cases of displaying goods, placing counters, and pushcarts encroaching on sidewalks. For the act of illegally using sidewalks for business, violating small traders were recorded and fined 2.5 million VND according to regulations.

From January 15 to January 19, the Hang Xanh Traffic Police Team coordinated with the People's Committee and police of Gia Dinh, Binh Loi Trung, Hanh Thong, An Nhon wards... to handle more than 160 cases of violations related to sidewalk and road encroachment.
The main violations include: using sidewalks for food service business; illegal parking; using pushcarts as mobile stalls; displaying goods on roads with prohibited regulations.
During the handling process, functional forces temporarily seized hundreds of umbrellas, tables and chairs, signboards, and pushcarts of all kinds, and at the same time combined propaganda and reminders to raise people's awareness of law compliance.
In the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police force said that it will continue to coordinate with relevant units to maintain campaigns, focusing on roads and areas where the situation of driving, parking and encroaching on sidewalks often recurs, thereby restoring urban order and ensuring traffic safety in the city.
