At about 10 am on May 21, a fire occurred in an apartment on the 4th floor of the B1 Nguyen Cong Tru apartment complex, Hai Ba Trung ward (Hanoi), causing many people to panic and run away.
According to people at the scene, at the time of discovering the incident, fire and smoke rose from inside the apartment. Just a few minutes later, the fire flared up fiercely, a column of black smoke engulfed the upper floor area of the apartment complex.
Many residents said that the smoke spread quickly into the corridors and neighboring apartments, causing people to panic and move downstairs to ensure safety.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire and Rescue Police force quickly dispatched vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene to deploy fire fighting work, and at the same time supported to bring people out of the dangerous area.
The area around the apartment complex is temporarily cordoned off to serve firefighting and rescue work.
The cause of the fire is being clarified by functional agencies.
