Fire flies into a house at noon, Hoi An ancient town is chaotic

People and tourists panicked and fled when a major fire suddenly broke out at a souvenir shop in the center of Hoi An ancient town.

According to initial records, at around 12:30 on June 13, the fire started from the second floor of a souvenir shop at 10 Tran Quy Cap Street, Minh An Ward, Hoi An Ancient Town, Quang Nam Province and spread rapidly, with black smoke rising to the roof, covering a corner of the street.

Because the store had many flammable items such as wood, paper, fabric and handmade souvenirs, the fire broke out more fiercely.

As soon as the incident was discovered, the on-site forces of the Hoi An Market Management Board urgently deployed initial extinguishing equipment. Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Bac Quang Nam immediately dispatched dozens of officers, soldiers and many fire trucks to the scene for rescue.

After nearly 1 hour of actively extinguishing the fire, at about 1:30 p.m. the same day, the authorities basically controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to adjacent houses. Fortunately, the fire did not cause any human casualties, however, property damage is still being specifically counted.

Mr. Vo Dang Phong - Chairman of Minh An Ward People's Committee - said: "Immediately after receiving the news, the locality quickly coordinated with functional forces to control the fire in time, ensuring safety for people and tourists".

Quang Nam provincial authorities are investigating and clarifying the cause of the fire.
