On February 28, Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung - Chairman of Nghia Dong Commune People's Committee, Nghe An province - said that a serious fire had just occurred in the area at the private house of Mr. P.V. D., residing in Tan Binh hamlet.
According to initial information, at about 5:30 am on the same day, people in Tan Binh hamlet discovered smoke and fire rising fiercely from Mr. D's family's level-four house. The fire quickly engulfed most of the house area, accompanied by many small explosions, suspected to be caused by household items exploding during the fire.
Discovering the incident, people around shouted for help, using mini fire extinguishers and domestic water to put out the fire, and at the same time reported to the local authorities and functional forces. However, due to the rapid outbreak of the fire, rescue access was difficult.
After receiving the news, Nghia Dong commune functional forces and professional units of Nghe An province urgently arrived at the scene, organized firefighting and cordoned off the area to ensure safety.
The fire was controlled afterwards, but Mr. P.V. D. did not survive. The fire also caused great property damage when many household items were completely burned down.
Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
