On the evening of August 24, leaders of Hoai An Commune People's Committee (Gia Lai province) said that functional forces had controlled and extinguished a planted forest fire that occurred in An Chieu village.
According to initial information, the fire broke out on August 23rd in the acacia forest area at Cay Coc pass, An Chieu village. After being controlled by functional forces and people, by noon on August 24th, the fire suddenly flared up again.
Hoai An Commune People's Committee mobilized about 100 people to participate in firefighting. Military forces were also mobilized to support the government and local people to put out the fire.
Hot weather and strong winds made it difficult to approach and control the fire. By the evening of August 24, the fire was controlled and extinguished by functional forces.
Leaders of Hoai An Commune People's Committee said that the locality continues to arrange forces to be on duty at the fire area overnight, proactively handling if fires reappear.
The initial cause of the fire was determined to be vegetation burning. The area of forest damage is estimated at about 8ha.
Previously, on August 21, a forest fire also occurred in the Dau Voi mountain area (Cat Lam village, Hoi Son commune, Gia Lai province).
The fire area is located on high hills and mountains, with dangerous terrain, plus strong winds, making it difficult for functional forces to approach and extinguish the fire. By the evening of August 22, the fire was controlled and extinguished.
