On the afternoon of June 19, a large forest fire occurred in Tan Hai village, Ninh Chau commune, Quang Tri province. By about 6 pm on the same day, the fire had not been completely controlled.
According to initial information, at about 1:30 pm on June 19, people discovered smoke and fire rising in the hilly forest area of Tan Hai village. In conditions of prolonged hot weather, strong winds and thick dry ground, the fire quickly flared up fiercely and spread on a large area.
Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities mobilized forest rangers, police, military, militia and a large number of people to approach the scene, deploy measures to cordon off the area, set up firebreaks and organize firefighting.
However, the complex terrain and hot and dry weather made firefighting work difficult. The fire continuously flared up again at many points and there was a risk of spreading to neighboring forest areas.
Until about 6 pm on June 19, functional forces were still making efforts to extinguish the fire. The fire was basically controlled in some areas but has not been completely extinguished.
Hundreds of people continued to be on duty at the scene to prevent the risk of fire spreading and handle the remaining smoldering points.
Currently, the cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by functional agencies. Damage to forest area and related assets has not been specifically statistically determined.
