On June 26, due to the impact of prolonged hot weather, at about 11 am, a forest fire suddenly broke out in the protection forest area in Nam Cua Viet commune (Quang Tri province). Due to thick dry ground, the fire quickly flared up fiercely and was at risk of spreading to a large area.
Immediately after receiving the fire report, the Military Command (CHQS) of Quang Tri province mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers of the armed forces in the area to quickly mobilize to the scene to coordinate with functional forces to participate in firefighting and forest protection.

In order to extinguish the fire and minimize damage, a large number of officers and soldiers of Regiment 842; Nam Cua Viet Commune Military Command; Border Guard forces; Provincial Police; Forest Protection Department; Coast Guard; Area 4 - Trieu Phong Defense Command and local officials and people have made efforts to participate.
At the scene, the forces were divided into many teams, quickly deploying a zoning plan, using chainsaws and manual tools to clear the area and create firebreaks. At the same time, specialized vehicles and fire fighting tools were continuously mobilized to spray water and extinguish the fires, determined to control and prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring areas.

Due to strong winds, the fire broke out very quickly, dense smoke and dust caused countless difficulties for approaching and fighting the fire. With courageous spirit, the soldiers and people still steadfastly stayed close to the scene, closely coordinated to deploy synchronous professional measures to protect the safety of the "green lungs".
By the afternoon of the same day, firefighting work was still being urgently and actively deployed by the forces. Hundreds of officers and soldiers and functional forces are still continuing to maintain 100% of personnel at the scene, focusing on thoroughly handling the embers and preventing fire points from re-emerging.
Previously, on June 23, in Trieu Co and Vinh Dinh communes (Quang Tri province), due to prolonged hot weather, thick dry vegetation and strong winds, a forest fire similar to that in Nam Cua Viet commune occurred.
To control the fire, local authorities coordinated with functional forces and people to mobilize more than 500 people to participate in firefighting. By the evening of the same day, the fire was basically under control. However, due to strong winds and many smoldering points in the undergrowth, the fire suddenly flared up again, lasting until June 24. This made firefighting work difficult to completely extinguish the fire.
