On the afternoon of June 24, information from leaders of Trieu Co Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri), the fire in the protection forest that occurred in Trieu Co commune has been basically controlled. However, functional forces still maintain dozens of people on duty in the Phuong An village forest area to monitor and handle points that are still at risk of re-igniting fires.
Previously, at about 11 am on June 23, the fire broke out in the protection forest area of Trieu Co commune and quickly spread to Vinh Dinh commune. Prolonged hot weather, dry vegetation and strong winds caused the fire to spread widely, causing difficulties for firefighting.

Immediately after the incident occurred, local authorities mobilized many forces including police, military, border guards, forest rangers, coast guard, fire and rescue police and people to participate in firefighting. Thousands of people were mobilized to cordon off and control the fire.
The Military Command of Quang Tri province also mobilized hundreds of turns of officers, soldiers and border guard units to the scene to coordinate in protecting the threatened forest area.
By the end of the afternoon of June 23, the fire was basically extinguished. However, at about 8 pm on the same day, due to the embers still smoldering and encountering strong winds, the fire broke out again, forcing forces to deploy plans to prevent the fire from spreading overnight.
On the morning of June 24, fire continued to appear in the Phuong An village area. During the firefighting process, many organizations and individuals supported drinking water, meals and necessities for the task force, contributing to ensuring duty and controlling the fire.
