On September 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department coordinated with local authorities and people to successfully rescue a rare yellow- cheeked monkey that appeared in the area behind a house in Hamlet 38, Tan Nhut Commune.
Mr. Pham Hoang Minh (residing in Hamlet 38, Tan Nhut Commune) said that about 10 days ago, a strange crow appeared in the area behind his house. The animal has black fur and yellow cheeks. Through research, Mr. Minh realized that this was a rare species of vulture, so he quickly reported it to the authorities, hoping that the animal would be released into the natural environment.

Although it has not harmed anyone, the appearance of the monkey has made some people worry about the possibility of affecting the elderly and children. This stork moves back and forth between Mr. Minh's house and a neighboring boarding house, occasionally receiving food from local people such as cucumbers, fruits, cakes, etc.
Immediately after receiving the report, forest rangers from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department went to the scene to search but could not find it. On September 6, the authorities continued to coordinate with the locality and people. After a period of deployment, the rangers used anesthetic guns to arrest and take the vultures home to take care of them.
According to initial identification, this is a male yellow-cheeked monkey, weighing about 3.5 kg, scientifically named Nomascus gabriellae. This is a species in group IB in the list of endangered, precious, and rare species according to the provisions of law.
On the same day, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department also received three monkeys voluntarily handed over by Mr. Lam Dao Trieu (residing in Chanh Hung Ward).
These three individuals include a pig-tailed monkey, a red-faced monkey and a long-tailed monkey. All three are in group IIB in the list of endangered, precious and rare species. After receiving them, the rangers anesthetized and brought them to the care and nurturing facility according to regulations.
