An Indian public bird suddenly flew into an apartment in Tan Hung ward and was discovered by the security guard and handed over to the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department on August 29.
Previously, on August 28, Mr. Thach Canh Tam, a security guard at Minh Thanh apartment building (Le Van Luong street, Tan Hung ward), received a report from residents about a strange large bird flying into an apartment on the 6th floor.
After approaching, Mr. Tam determined that it was a male bird with a very beautiful feather. Realizing that this was a precious bird, he immediately contacted the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department to hand it over.
The Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department confirmed that it has received this wild bird. This is an Indian starling (scientific name Pavo cristatus), weighing about 4.3 kg and in good health. This bird species is included in Appendix III of the Convention on International Trade in endangered animals and plants (CITES), and needs to be strictly protected and managed.
Mr. Tam said that this was the first time he saw the hermit appear in this area and its origin was unknown. His actions were commended by the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department, demonstrating a sense of responsibility in protecting wildlife.
