According to the general planning of Dong Trieu city until 2040, the development space of Dong Trieu is divided into three main areas.
In the East, focus on mining, clean industry and logistics services. This area will form inland waterway traffic units, exploiting high-speed riverside routes to promote the circulation of goods.
The West is the place for urban development, administrative - commercial - service centers, model new rural areas, promoting high-tech agriculture combined with ecological parks.
The North is oriented to become a center of spiritual, cultural and ecological tourism, based on the system of historical relics of the Tran Dynasty and natural landscapes.
In recent years, Dong Trieu has invested heavily in transport infrastructure to connect with major economic centers in the North such as Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Bac Giang and Ha Long.
Notable projects include the riverside road, provincial road 333, Trieu bridge and May bridge. In particular, the riverside road is about to be completed, shortening the travel time from Dong Trieu to Cat Bi airport (Hai Phong) to only 30 minutes.
For 5 consecutive years, Dong Trieu has achieved a stable economic growth rate of over 10%, with an economic scale of 33,703 billion VND. Average income per capita in 2024 will reach 8,803 USD/year, among the top in the country and there will be no more poor households according to national criteria.
Dong Trieu has been approved for many more important industrial clusters and industrial zones such as: Dong Trieu Industrial Park, Dong Trieu II Industrial Park, Yen Tho Industrial Cluster, and concentrated ceramic craft village.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Mr. Le Van Do - Vice Chairman of Dong Trieu City People's Committee - said: Up to now, Dong Trieu has completed the criteria for reaching the model of new rural area. In the general planning of Dong Trieu City until 2040, Dong Trieu will develop according to the model of village in city, city in village to harmonize urban development and preserve cultural identity. Regarding agriculture, Dong Trieu aims to develop ecological agriculture, organic agriculture, high-tech concentrated livestock farming areas according to export standards towards a green and sustainable economy.
