On July 22, Army Corps 34 (Ministry of National Defense) informed about the brave action of Corporal Kpa Thiep - soldier of Regiment 28, Division 10, Army Corps 34 - who died when rushing to rescue 2 people electrocuted.
According to Army Corps 34, Corporal Kpa Thiep was granted leave by his unit according to regulations from 6 am on July 19 to 6 pm on July 30 to visit his family in Tao Roong village, Ia Ko commune, Gia Lai.
At noon on July 20, after working in the fields with his wife to help the family, on the way home, soldier Kpa Thiep discovered 2 people electrocuted unconscious. Without hesitation, the soldier quickly rushed in to pull the victims out of the dangerous area. After rescuing 2 people, all 3 fainted due to electric shock.
People quickly took the victims to Chu Se General Hospital for emergency treatment. 2 people were out of danger and recovered their health, but Corporal Kpa Thiep did not survive.
According to the conclusion of the Gia Lai Provincial Forensic Center, soldier Kpa Thiep suffered shock due to heart fibrillation leading to extreme heart failure due to electric shock, and there were no injuries to his whole body due to external force.
Corporal Kpa Thiep was born on March 7, 2006, is of Jarai ethnicity, from Chu Se commune, currently residing in Tao Roong village, Ia Ko commune, Gia Lai province. Soldier Kpa Thiep enlisted in February 2025, currently a soldier of the Guards Platoon, Staff Department, Regiment 28, Division 10, Army Corps 34.
Immediately after the incident, Army Corps 34 directed Division 10 to send a working delegation to the scene to coordinate with functional agencies, Party committees, local authorities and families to resolve the incident.
At the same time, Army Corps 34 announced the brave action of Corporal Kpa Thiep to all officers and soldiers in the unit, launching the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and promptly encouraging the comrade's family to overcome the loss.
To date, officers and soldiers of the entire 34th Army Corps have paid respects and supported the family of Corporal Kpa Thiep with a total amount of more than 149 million VND.
The People's Committee of Chu Se commune awarded Certificates of Merit to soldier Kpa Thiep for his brave action of sacrificing himself to save people in distress; The People's Committee of Ia Ko commune is completing dossiers, proposing to the provincial level to posthumously award Certificates of Merit to soldier Kpa Thiep for his brave action of rescuing people in the area.
