In recent days, the incident of many graves at Dong Xuan martyrs cemetery (Thanh Ba commune) being attacked, the scene was chaotic, causing a stir in public opinion.
At Dong Xuan Martyrs' Cemetery, 18 graves were severely damaged, including 3 graves that were valued, had their steles removed, and fell to the ground, with bricks and cement scattered at the scene.
According to the martyrs' relatives, at the time of discovering the above incident, they had not received any notice from the government or the construction unit about the renovation and renovation of the martyrs' cemetery.
After receiving the feedback, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong directed the Party Secretary and Chairman of Thanh Ba Commune People's Committee to quickly dialogue with the people.
On September 4, leaders of the Commune People's Committee, leaders of departments, offices, and functional units of Thanh Ba Commune, representatives of the residential area and the construction unit had a working session with 8 relatives of the martyrs' graves at Dong Xuan Martyrs' Cemetery.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hong - Chairman of Thanh Ba Commune People's Committee - said that the cemetery restoration and embellishment project has been implemented since the time it was still the old Dong Xuan commune. On August 8, 2025, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the old Dong Xuan commune handed over the project documents to the new commune.
Hearing about the project, the martyrs' relatives all agreed with the policy of restoring and repairing the cemetery. However, relatives have reported that they have not received any notice about the construction, and at the same time requested that the construction process must be neat, clean and completed early.
Listening to and taking note of the opinions of relatives, the People's Committee of Thanh Ba commune committed to closely coordinating with the construction unit to implement on schedule, ensuring technique and aesthetics.
Thanh Ba Commune People's Committee also committed to constructing 3 tombs that are still unfinished on September 5, completing them as they are; requiring the design unit to ensure the status quo and aesthetics. The repair will be completed before Tet.
According to the reporter's investigation, the project to renovate and repair the martyrs' cemetery in Dong Xuan commune, Thanh Ba district was approved by the People's Committee of the old Dong Xuan commune under Decision No. 73/QD-UBND dated May 15, 2025..
This project belongs to group C, with a total investment of more than 1.8 billion VND, invested by Dong Xuan Commune People's Committee.
On June 25, 2025, the People's Committee of Dong Xuan commune issued a decision approving the results of the selection of contractors for the Construction package of the project.
Accordingly, AOC Vietnam Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company was the winning bidder for the above package with a price of VND 1,529,699,000 (package price is VND 1,536,684,000). Construction period is 120 days
According to the project's technical requirements, the package will renovate and repair the following items: Monument, stele, martyrs' grave, yard, walkway, tree beds, gate, fence, system of 6 light poles using solar energy.
