After receiving the report, the unit organized a search and discovered a dead pig drifting on the embankment of My Canh residential group (Dong Hoi ward). The pig's carcass was then taken to bury in accordance with regulations, ensuring environmental hygiene.
Dong Hoi Ward People's Committee also warned people not to throw dead animals into the environment, and affirmed that it would strictly handle if similar behavior was discovered.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on July 23, social networks spread a clip recording a suspected pig carcass floating on the Nhat Le River, causing concerns about the risk of environmental pollution and epidemics.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri, by 5:00 p.m. on July 20, the whole province had 16 communes affected by African swine fever, forcing the destruction of more than 4,600 pigs.
