On July 22, the People's Committee of Phong Nha commune (Quang Tri province) said that it had deployed forces to inspect the entire stream after people's complaints about the situation of pig carcasses thrown into the environment.
In the area of village 8, where people livestreamed to record images of pig carcasses thrown into the stream, the authorities no longer discovered the pig carcasses because the people involved had buried them themselves after posting.
However, the People's Committee of the commune affirmed that the act of throwing dead animals into the environment is a serious violation, causing the risk of water pollution and epidemics. The government has requested the villages to step up propaganda, and will strictly handle if similar cases are discovered in the coming time.
"We have informed all people and village chiefs that if anyone intentionally repeats this behavior, a record will be drawn up and punished in accordance with regulations" - the leader of Phong Nha Commune People's Committee emphasized.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, a livestream clip was circulated on Facebook recording images of what is believed to be many dead pigs dumped in a stream in Phong Nha commune. The livestream performer said that many pigs were discovered while passing through the area.
