Mr. Le Thanh Phong - Chairman of Duc Hoa District People's Committee, Long An Province has just issued a document directing the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns to report on the slow relocation of many slaughterhouses in the area, and at the same time advise the District People's Committee on a solution.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "Many slaughterhouses in Long An are slow to relocate", reflecting that some slaughterhouses in Duc Hoa district were slow to relocate according to regulations, affecting the environment and food safety and hygiene.
After the newspaper reported, the Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing the Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Chairman of the Duc Hoa District People's Committee to provide information related to the management of slow-moving slaughterhouses in Duc Hoa District, according to the Lao Dong Newspaper.
In particular, Duc Hoa district, Long An province, bordering Ho Chi Minh City, has Nguyen Huu An slaughterhouse that must be relocated from the beginning of 2022, and many other manual slaughterhouses that must be relocated, but are still operating, affecting the environment and food safety and hygiene.
Why is the Long An Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries still carrying out slaughter control work at Nguyen Huu An facility despite the delay in relocation? Ms. Le Thi Mai Khanh - Head of the Long An Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Fisheries (Department) said that because there has not been any document from the competent authority related to the termination of the operation of Nguyen Huu An facility, the Department is still responsible for carrying out the work of controlling the slaughter of livestock at this facility.
